Are seniors using social media?
Recent studies show that people over age 65 have tripled their presence on social media sites in the last four years—from 13 percent in 2009 to 43 percent now.
Could this be because Baby Boomers are literally coming of age, or because social media has finally gained critical mass? Probably both. The studies also showed that the growth is spread fairly evenly across ethnic backgrounds, education and socio-economic levels. Both trends were based on Internet tracking surveys by Pew Research.
So what does this mean for marketers? Well, that regardless of age, income and culture, social media is an important way people can and will connect to your brand.
